Brookfield Place is home to BHP Iron Ore’s state-of-the-art Integrated Production and Remote Operations team (IPRO) at Iron Ore.  Our Control Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using advanced, real-time technology to enable visibility and control, across the entire Iron Ore supply chain.

About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Control AHS (Autonomous Haulage System), you will be part of this exciting journey as BHP’s Autonomous Portfolio continues to grow. As the Training Supervisor of the Autonomous Mine Control team, you will be leading and developing a growing team in a fast past and dynamic environment, contributing to the strategic vision for the AHS Mine Control Team and with active input to decisions made which support BHP’s Autonomous Portfolio.

This role will be Perth based on a Monday to Friday roster, with some requirement for site travel. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Development and implementation of a training strategy to enable the AHS Mine Control team to prepare for future growth, aligned to the 2 Year Budget and the Capital Pipeline;

  • Implementing a program of work to build on the foundation for Autonomous Mine Control Training material;

  • Ensure training throughout the AHS Mine Control Team is delivered consistently ensuring alignment across teams whilst enabling an elevated level of productivity;

  • Ensure continuous training and skills development of the team members;

  • Active involvement in capital projects relevant to the Mine Control AHS CMD team, to ensure successful implementation and adaptation;

  • Developing and maintaining a succession plan within the AHS Mine control training team;

  • Building a culture of trust and care within the AHS training team and the broader AHS Control Team;

  • Motivating, managing, engaging, coaching, and developing a high performing team;

  • Establishing strong relationships with site operations, support functions and the broader IPRO team;

  • Ensuring safety standards are set up and respected;

  • Embedding the BHP Operating System within the team to sustainably drive improvement through standardised routines/triggers;

  • Proactively follow up all incidents with appropriate investigation, and implement improvement action plans.

About You

We are seeking an adept leader with prior experience in Training and Assessing, with proven capability to drive a positive culture both within a team and with key stakeholders. Practical experience in delivering projects, processes, and strategy, with a deep understanding of training and assessing is highly advantageous, process driven with ability to deliver on business outcomes is also desirable.

As the successful candidate, you can demonstrate your ability to lead a team in delivering safe productivity, with a passion for coaching and developing personnel, and building a culture for your team to flourish. You are adaptable and able to coach your team to navigate a continuously changing environment to drive positive outcomes. You have highly developed problem-solving skills (Root Cause Analysis) as well as delivering Improvement Initiatives. Experience with training and assessing within Caterpillar’s Command Fleet management system is ideal.
