About the Role

BHP Olympic Dam owns, operations and maintains a significant amount of potable water, mine processing water and waste water infrastructure. This include RO based potable infrastructure supplying water to the Olympic Dam mine, camps and surrounding townships. This infrastructure is growing and changing with our business.   

Our Water Execution Team ensures that the infrastructure is operated, maintained and governed to meet BHP and external regulatory specifications.  Reporting to the Superintendent Water Operations & Maintenance, the Supervisor performs a key role in the operation of Olympic Dam’s water systems.  

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7, day/night roster pattern roster, with residential, FIFO (from Adelaide) or DIDO options available.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a team of Water Technicians, Plumbers, Diesel Mechanics, Mechanical Fitters and Specialists, with a focus on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
  • Interface with all key users of water across Olympic Dam, contractors, and project teams
  • Manage contractors and contractor groups
  • Ensure safe and efficient execution of water operations and maintenance activities across a wide range of equipment, spread across a large geographical area
  • Deliver production against forecast demands
  • Encourage and promote continuous improvement by constantly looking for opportunities to improve work practices and procedures

About You

  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable, and coach others in safety leadership
  • Confident communicator who is able to influence a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the delivery of work to schedule and budget
  • Experience leading people or teams
  • Experience with work management processes
  • Ability to plan and allocate work
  • Water operations and maintenance experience with borefields, dams, desalination plants or similar is preferred but not essential
  • Trade or tertiary qualifications in a relevant field preferred but not essential
  • Current manual driver’s licence
