We are looking for a Supervisor- Welding to lead a team of welders, scopers and a technical team towards achieving our safety, people, partnership and growth objectives through execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
This is a great opportunity for a safety-focused and ticketed team leader to lead the maintenance activities within the Yarwun footprint. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate personal and team behaviour that meets or exceeds the Yarwun Visions and Models for Leadership.
Leading on the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a huge amount of responsibility. We need you to motivate, inspire and keep your people safe and well.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Site Services and working in a collaborative community, you will be:
- Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.
- Supporting of operational needs and execution of planned work.
- Able to work under the pressures of ‘break in’ and planned work across multiple work fronts.
- Delivering weekly, monthly and annual maintenance and safety performance KPI’s;
- Managing expenditure within the allocated budget and execution of the Yarwun operating system.
What you will bring
- Experience supervising in mining, processing, or materials-handling environment
- Be Trade ticketed in boiler making or mechanical trades
- Strong knowledge of welding codes
- Strong knowledge of SAP MMS
- Able to develop an achievable plan, week to week, with also long term view
- Strong proven leadership, with skills to build relationships at all levels of business
- Strong working relationship with peers from multiple team

Where you will be working
With production beginning in 2004 at our Yarwun alumina refinery, located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Gladstone in Central Queensland, today the operation produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year.
