Emeco Group is a leader in heavy earthmoving services for the mining and construction industries, we are renowned for our Proven Performance & Service Excellence.

We are currently seeking a motivated Applications Support Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Osborne Park, reporting to the Manager, Business Systems. In this role you will provide technical support to Emeco’s user base with regards to the company’s Business Systems applications and be responsible for the company’s database management systems.

The successful applicant’s duties will include:

Application Support

  • Provide technical support to users of Emeco’s ERP (currently MS Great Plains)
  • Provide technical support to users of Emeco’s HR and Payroll application (currently Chris21)
  • Be actively involved and provide valuable input in the implementation of Emeco’s new systems and processes
  • Responsible for the planning, installation, maintenance and administration of the organisation’s database managements systems
  • Develop and design database strategy, monitor and improve database performance and capacity
  • Plan for future expansion requirements of the database systems
  • Define software and hardware requirements for database systems
  • Improve the interface between system users, the operating system and applications software
  • Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance checks to ensure that the solutions meet business requirements and perform optimally. Address any defects or issues identified during testing.

Business Analysis

  • Assist in creating detailed requirement documents and user stories that clearly outline the business needs, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and objectives. Regularly update these documents to reflect any changes or new insights.
  • Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications that guide the development and implementation of digital solutions. Work closely with technology vendors to ensure accurate and effective implementation.

Your Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role you will need the following:

  • Education: Completed, or working towards, Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
  • Certificates: MSDBA (MS SQL Server), or equivalent
  • Good understanding in all facets of IT
  • 2-3 years’ experience of relational database technology, specifically Microsoft SQL (2016/2019)
  • Experience in the design, administration and management of Relational Database Management Systems
  • Excellent process management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in software development and programming
  • Experience working in a fluid, high pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in general terms
