About the role

This is a permanent full-time position (part-time or job share will be considered for the right candidate) based at the West Cliff Coal Preparation Plant.

You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the tailing’s facility, dams, and ponds onsite across Appin Mine. This includes the civil construction of the Dry Rejects Emplacement Area (DREA) to design and the monitoring and integrity of Brennan’s Creek Dam and onsite water storage bodies across IMC under the supervision of the Surface Services Superintendent.

Key accountabilities:

• Managing contractors and budgets for the safe construction and operation of the DREA, dams and water storage ponds
• Ensuring the structural integrity of the DREA and water storage bodies
• Communicating with the Engineer of Record (EoR) and other key stakeholders regarding design, construction, and operation of the assets
• Monitoring and maintenance of the assets and routine communication of results & data to the EoR
• Ensuring ongoing implementation and compliance with the Global Industry Standard for tailings Management (GISTM) and Dam Safety regulations and standards including reviewing and updating documentation
• Civil projects onsite including roads and water storage pond rectification works
• Engineering guidance and support for civil assets across the site

About you

You will have experience in civil earth works such as the design, construction, management, or operations of bulk materials. You will have a passion for workplace safety and continuous drive to improve and deliver on outcomes.

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Bachelor of Engineering – Civil, Geotechnical, or similar
• Experience with civil construction (earth works) or similar
• Experience with civil design and compliance
• Contractor management and/or project management experience
• A self-starter who takes the initiative to work across many teams
• Experience with tailings and/or dam management and compliance (desirable)

Should you not have all the desired experience we still encourage you to apply. If successful, you will be mentored through a development program to eventually take responsibility for the full role.

Location

This position will be at our West Cliff Coal Preparation Plant, Appin which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
