Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent full-time position based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney. 

As the Surface Mechanical Planner, you will contribute to the maintenance planning function by optimising the scheduling and planning of the work orders for the maintenance centres and resources assigned.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Develop scores of work in conjunction with the execution teams to ensure work is well designed.
  • Complete detailed planning of maintenance tasks and shutdowns with input/support from Maintenance Engineers.
  • Enable execution of maintenance activities in collaboration with maintenance crews, contracting partners, and production departments to the specified plan and timelines.
  • Develop and coordinate +2 to +13 week rolling maintenance schedules in accordance with 1SAP Work Management processes.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Self-reliant contributor with good attention to detail and a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Significant planning/scheduling experience working in mining or heavy industry – surface/underground coal preferable.
  • Proficient in SAP, and Microsoft suite of software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across various levels of the business.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Tertiary / Trade qualification in a relevant Engineering field.
  • Frontline management qualification (desired).
