About the Role

South32 are seeking a motivated Electrical Surface Planner for our Appin Mine.

Reporting to the Superintendent Surface Maintenance, the main purpose of this role is to ensure routine and non-routine Surface Electrical Maintenance activities are appropriately planned, resourced and scheduled so that work can be executed in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scoping, planning & scheduling of routine and non-routine maintenance tasks including:
    • Site inspections with Coordinators, Supervisors & Trades to determine the best methodology for work execution
    • Organisation of suitable resourcing to enable work execution
    • Procurement of materials and spare parts to enable repairs
    • Assisting with & development of procedures and instructions to support work execution
  • Consolidating the Area Maintenance work orders into one approved Area Maintenance Schedule by working with relevant department stakeholders and contract partners
  • Regular updates of the forward planning tools to ensure that interactions are managed
  • Facilitate the area maintenance planning meeting and attend other maintenance meetings required as part of the mine forward planning process
  • Printing, packing, and delivering paper copies of work orders to individual work centre areas
  • Using SAP to support the execution of changes, updates, and improvements to work orders and/or asset management plans
  • Support root cause analysis, master data improvements & spares management work
  • Provide guidance to execution teams on work methodology and work design and assist with managing health & safety risks

In addition, you will need:

  • Trade Certificate, Associate Diploma or Degree in a relevant Electrical Engineering or Maintenance field
  • Experience working in mining or heavy industry – surface / underground coal preferable
  • Experience with winders, hydraulics, materials handling, gas extraction plants, hazardous areas, and/or LV/HV maintenance will be highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of planning, scheduling, and management of maintenance strategies in SAP will be highly regarded.
  • Experience with the use of MS Office suite of products like Excel, Word & Powerpoint
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute, influence and make decisions within multi-functional teams
  • Be self-motivated & have good attention to detail with a desire for continuous improvement

Location

This position will be at our Appin operations which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
