Macmahon has an opportunity for a Mine Surveyor to support our Dawson South Mining team on an 8:6 roster.
Some of your duties will include but not limited to:
• Primary accountability is to provide survey set out, pickup, reconciliation and reporting to serve the mining contract at Dawson South
• Constant liaison and collaboration with client survey teams and production crews
• Weekly and monthly survey volumes/calculations for topsoil removal, waste excavation, coal mining and rehandle quantities.
• Stake out of excavation, dump limits and maintenance of machine guidance system.
• Ensure survey of coal interfaces is correctly picked up to ensure strip reconciliations are reliable and meaningful.
• In conjunction with the Senior Geologist, provision of monthly reconciliation of overburden removal, coal exposed and coal loss surveys.
• Daily updates of waste and coal movements into client’s Minvu system.
• Comply with the site systems of progress recording, site diaries and photographic recording
• Provision of actual to design compliance plans.
• Provision of strip/seam reconciliations and calculation of contract KPI’s.
• Calculation of ROM Factor (density) and interim weekly truck load volumes (including rise/run metrics).
• Ongoing participation in project improvement initiatives.
• Provide smooth handover and continuity with the other Surveyor working back to back.
• Coach and mentor junior members of the technical team.
• Actively contribute to risk assessment and development of Hazard Plans for operational areas.

To be successful in this position, you would ideally have:
• Tertiary qualifications in surveying or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years surveying in coal mines
• Experience in utilising and maintaining survey hardware (ie GPS, Total Station and scanner technology)
• Experience in 3D CAD software such as Vulcan and Deswik essential.
• Excellent data management control and post-processing of pick up data
• Ability to clearly set out and articulate survey calculations and adjustments
• Commitment to raising the profile of Macmahon technical capability, maximising contractor KPI’s and building trust and rapport with our client.
