ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Surveyor Assistant, you will assist the Surveyors to provide support for survey control to facilitate execution of mine activities including topsoil, stripping, overburden removal, ore mining, drilling/blasting, rehabilitation and associated projects around the Mine and supporting activities.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Conduct survey operations with drones, laser scanners, and GPS
• Conduct survey stakeout and control for the mining operation
• Process survey data and complete volume quantities

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• A good work ethic, great communication skills and a desire to learn and grow
• A strong commitment to safety
• Survey or operational experience within a civil or mining environment
• Knowledge of Vulcan or Point Studio highly regarded
• UAV operator certificate highly regarded
