Sustainable Procurement Lead
Work location: Australia
Roster: Monday to Friday
The primary purpose of this role is to support the FFI contracts, procurement and supply chain function to identify, transact with and develop suppliers and contractors that meet FFI’s Environment, Sustainability and Governance expectations, in turn enabling FFI deliver its sustainable supply chain goals and obligations.
To achieve this, we are seeking a high-calibre Sustainable Procurement Lead to join our team, bringing knowledge and experience embedding sustainability into end-to-end procurement, supply chain management and contract management. Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement and working closely with the Fortescue Sustainability team, you will be accountable for ensuring FFI has effective processes in place to manage Human Rights and other sustainability-related risks in our supply chain. Your role will have direct impact on the welfare and societal outcomes experienced by participants in the renewable energy supply chain.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Ensure FFI adopts world leading practices that ensure its supply chains satisfy FFI environmental, social and governance obligations and goals
- Undertake risk assessments across FFIs supply chain and design risk management approaches to address risks during all procurement and project stages
- Implement Scope 3 emissions strategy to achieve zero emission supply chain by 2040
- Further develop supplier screening criteria, diligence processes and impactful risk mitigation for ESG matters in the supply chain.
- Support reporting, auditing and other relevant processes
- Ensure compliance with location and international requirements relating to ethical procurement and practices
- Partner with and support professionals in the Contracts, Procurement & Supply Chain function to achieve sustainability goals through market engagements, tenders and contracts
- Provide training to the Contracts, Procurement and Supply Chain group and global projects and operations teams on best practice and standards
- External engagement and reporting on FFI’s sustainable procurement performance, including:
- modern slavery statements
- facilitating the tracking of emissions across all purchases and the supply chain
- reporting on FFI performance
Qualifications and skills required:
- Degree in relevant commercial, legal and/or social science field (desireable)
- 7 - 10 years sustainability experience, including procurement/ supply-chain experience (desireable)
- Experience in developing sustainable procurement processes
- Strong understanding of Australian and international ESG legislative and regulatory environments, standards
- Energy sector, large-scale infrastructure project or similar experience (advantageous)
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams, designing and rolling out new processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Well developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of world leading approaches to sustainable procurement
- Experienced and confident in compiling reports and executive
