Due to a recent internal transfer we have a Tactical Purchasing Officer role which operates within our Global Purchase to Pay Team across the APAC hub. In this role you will be responsible for the execution of medium complexity purchase requisition to purchase order conversion with a focus on ensuring compliance and maximising value/savings for to the business. The key success to this position will be your ability to deliver consistent results, drive continuous improvement, build credibility with business stakeholders and demonstrate a high level or energy and a “can do” attitude.
Reporting to the Manager Regional Buy Operations (APAC) your remit will include but not be limited to:
- Provide SME support to the Rio Tinto Procurement Category and Sourcing teams
- Conduct multiple quote market testing for purchases < $125,000.
- Assist with the manual conversion of purchase orders calling off panel agreements.
- Monitor buy channel compliance
- Support transactional buyers with local market knowledge
- Engage in one-off sourcing projects
- Identify business improvement opportunities to generate value/savings eg: automation
- Support breakdown / urgent requests
What you’ll bring
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a “Buy” role (highly desirable)
- Working knowledge of the Purchase to Pay processes
- Strong understanding of SAP and Ariba or similar enterprise software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated skills in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholder groups identifying true value through business improvements ideas
- Experience analysing data and defining gaps/opportunities/savings
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently
