Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent full-time position on a 4:3 (4 days on 3 days off) roster FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
Domestic relocation to Darwin or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided.
As the Tailings Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of tailings facilities, driving compliance with industry standards, and supporting operational teams through all project phases.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Stakeholder engagement support including liaising with EOR, operations, planning, regulatory affairs, social performance and environment teams.
- Managing change processes and establishing control systems.
- Implementing and monitoring design requirements and safety reviews.
- Interpretation of tailings monitoring results and communication to the appropriate stakeholders.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Recognised tailings dam experience in design, construction, or operations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage risk, safety, and compliance in a project environment.
- Project management experience.
- Understanding of technical standards and regulations.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Engineering degree in civil, environment, geotechnical, or relevant discipline.
