Technical Accounting Manager
Work Location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
In this role you will provide support to the FFI Financial Controller on the application of accounting policies and standards and provide technical accounting advice on key transactions. To be successful, you will need to be a quick but critical thinker, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Detailed IFRS accounting research regarding complex technical accounting matters
- Assessing contracts and transactions, to provide technical accounting advice. Key areas of focus include M&A transactions, derivatives and leases
- Preparation of accounting position papers
- Assist with the production of first-time IFRS-compliant consolidated financial statements. Provision of audit assistance
- Liaison with Group Finance stakeholders to review the appropriateness of the Group’s accounting policies for activities undertaken by FFI
- Active involvement in the implementation of new accounting policies & standards
- Preparation of training materials and delivery of technical training to other finance stakeholders
- Provide accounting advisory support to Business Units. Familiarity with foreign GAAPs an advantage
Qualifications and skills required:
- CA or CPA qualified
- Minimum of 7 years’ technical accounting experience in a similar role, with recent experience gained at a similar multi-national organisation with global operations
- Strong IFRS technical accounting skills relevant to the Energy industry
- Ability to grasp complex accounting issues and communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work within tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility
