Technical Lead Engineer - Mechanical and Structural Systems

Work location: Perth based (Redcliffe)
- Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing Mechanical Engineering support to charging infrastructure project
- Working in collaboration with the broader Engineering team as well as the project management and workshop execution teams
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
- Resolution of technical and design issues
- Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
- Provide guidance regarding project budget, cash flow and schedule for existing and future projects
Qualifications and skills required:
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Minimum 7 years of experience
- Experience with design, manufacturing, and operation of mining equipment and other heavy structures (chassis, structural platforms, containers)
- Robotics / motion platform design experience is well received
- Experience with 3D cad and concept level packaging
- Experience with SAP work management
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
- Experience in participating / coordinating in the purchasing tender process
- Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
