•    Opportunity to form part of the Site Leadership Team •    Based in Camberwell, NSW 2330 We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Our Ashton Coal Operations includes an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell. the site operates 24 hours each day, seven days each week. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Ashton currently has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Services Manager to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Operations Manager and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Technical Services Manager is responsible for all Technical Service activities at Ashton including:

  • Ventilation/Gas Drainage Management;
  • Strata Management;
  • Subsidence Management;
  • Site Water Balance Monitoring;
  • Exploration;
  • Project Management;
  • Mining related approvals;
  • Mine Planning and Reporting (Life of Mine/5 year plan);
  • Technical analysis and evaluation of the mining operations;
  • Coaching and Development of Technical Services Staff.

Skills and Experience

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in Underground Coal mining in a similar position;
  • A commitment to continuous improvement;
  • Excellent engineering and analytical skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to relate and communicate to all people in all areas of the organisation;
  • Knowledge of, and a commitment to high standards of Safety, Health and environmental guardianship;
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

Your skills and experience will be complimented by the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or in a related engineering discipline;
  • A Statutory Mining Engineering Manager Certificate of Competence will be highly regarded.
