About the role: We are currently seeking a Technical Services Superintendent to join our CMJV Open Cut Mine. Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets, with an extension in Greenfield stage due to start coal production early next year.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role is responsible for the delivery of mine planning and technical services functions for the CMJV Mine. You will be responsible for leading a team of Mining Engineers (Truck-shovel, Drill & Blast and Dragline) and other professionals in the development and delivery of mining schedules to achieve mine plans on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, holding a pivotal role in ensuring technical needs are met.
Duties will include:
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to teams on site to ensure Dragline, Drill and Blast and Truck and shovel work flows efficiently, safely and in accordance with the requirements of the business plan and priorities of the mine site.
- Delivery of robust weekly and 16wk mine plans, compared and communicated against the approved SRF targets.
- Provide effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning of team personnel
- Lead by example with supportive behaviours promoting a ‘team’ and cooperative approach, sharing resources, knowledge and ideas with other teams
- Appropriately prioritize activity to continuously achieve target production ‘physical’ outcomes with the aim to exceed customer expectations without unforeseen hindrance
- Responsible for actual vs plan reconciliation, collaboration of planning activities across all stakeholders.
- Support for and adherence to the Peabody Values and Behaviour expectations
- Ensure technical support is provided to the mine operations by the timely provision of information necessary for detailed mine planning, scheduling and coal flows
- Ensure mine planning, design and scheduling services are provided to the Mining, Maintenance and Coal handling departments
- Manage the provision of specialized technical input through the engineering and planning process to optimise mine performance.
- Ensure geological, geotechnical, dragline, drilling and blasting, truck and shovel planning support services and advice is available to all sectors of the operation when needed.
- Manage the Technical Services budget and assist the Mining Operations to achieve the strategic business goals and plans

About you:
- Degree in Mining Engineering or associated field
- 5 years proven experience in a similar role in an open cut mining operation
- Strong competence in software packages such as Vulcan, Deswik, SPRY, 3D-Dig
- Well-developed communication, negotiating and influencing skills
- Passionate and process-driven
- Excellent time-management skills
- Strong commitment to safety and a way of life
