Title: Technical Writer (12 month fixed term or secondment)

Work location: Perth, WA

Roster: 5:2 Roster

Fortescue are presently looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join the Green Fleet Development team

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Create Work Packs for the build of various Green Energy HME and equipment.  The Work packs are to include illustrations, schematics and descriptions as developed collaboratively with subject matter experts.
  • Plan, schedule and store the Work Packs to FFI’s documentation standards.
  • Work with Engineering and Project Teams and other key stakeholders to gather data for creation or revision of the documentation.
  • Formalize, adhere to, and coach others on industry standard writing styles and formatting protocols.
  • Develop and maintain documentation hierarchy, content standards, formatting standards, and templates.
  • Improve document usability through content structure, formatting, and proofreading.
  • Ensure document control integrity with document revision history content and proper approval workflow routing.
  • Ensure documented processes and methodologies meet ISO 9001 requirements

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Extensive experience architecting complex documents and documentation sets, information design and structured authoring
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain with clarity and technical accuracy.
  • Ability to establish rapport and working relationships with a variety of personalities.
  • Sound knowledge of technical writing fundamentals, industry standard writing styles and content organization.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management, Document Control and/or Business Process Management methodologies and software an advantage
