Technical Writer - Manufacturing
Work location: Dawson Road, Perth Airport
Roster: Monday to Friday
Working as part of the Manufacturing Shared Services Team for Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), in conjunction with our existing Technical Writer, this position is responsible for developing and fine tuning the suite of documents required across the Manufacturing Product Portfolio whilst strengthening and protecting FFI’s brand integrity.
Key responsibilities:
- Create documentation plans, drawings, illustrations and schedules for documents and documentation sets
- Work with Engineering, Commercial, Project Teams and other key stakeholders to gather data for creation or revision of documentation
- Research and assimilate technical concepts, equipment, and products into manuals, and other technical documentation ensuring usability and concise content
- Provide innovative digital solutions for application of the FFI brand in communications materials
- Apply the FFI brand to external and internal communications materials including correct application of the logo and associated brand guidelines
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver brand and communications collateral, translating messaging and ensuring alignment with company Values and business objectives
- Research, formalize, adhere to, and coach others on industry standard writing styles and formatting protocols
- Develop and maintain documentation hierarchy, content standards, formatting standards, and templates
- Improve document usability through content structure, formatting, and proofreading
- Ensure document control integrity with document revision history content and proper approval workflow routing
- Ensure documented processes and methodologies meet ISO 9001 requirements
Qualifications and skills required:
- Extensive experience architecting complex documents and documentation sets, information design and structured authorising
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office particularly PowerPoint
- Proficient in the Colaborative Working Environment [Microsoft Teams, Planner]
- Experience working in the Cloud Document Management System [SharePoint]
- Knowledge of the Power Automate tool and other tools within the Microsoft Power Platform
- Exceptional design skills along with the ability to think conceptually and strategically to translate key messages, company Values and business objectives into print and digital application
- Ability to work on a PC platform
- Demonstrated experience in building trusting relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident in working under pressure to meet challenging timelines with competing priorities and stakeholders
- Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone
- Sound knowledge of technical writing fundamentals, industry standard writing styles and content organization
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management, Document Control and/or Business Process Management methodologies and software
