About the role 

We are looking for Technician- Asset Health – Heavy Mobile Equipment to join our Asset Management team at Hope Downs. You’ll be conducting regular structural and condition-based maintenance inspections on our fleet of heavy mobile equipment to improve equipment reliability, minimise unplanned maintenance by early defect identification and improve overall equipment availability. Whether you’re new to your profession or experienced in your field, and whatever industry you have exposure to, we have opportunities that will provide interesting work and growth opportunities for everyone.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on an 8 & 6 roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out visual, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic and eddy current inspections as required
  • Establishing and maintaining accurate data in the relevant NDT databases
  • Executing NDT related routine and non-routine tasks
  • Draft NDT inspections reports
  • Identifying and recommending any improvements in the NDT inspection and HME welding practices
  • Processing oil samples
  • Advise Planning and execution teams on priority work
  • Analyse oil sample results (could re-word to simple analysis of oil sample results)

 What you’ll bring  

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
  • Experience in NDT Heavy Mobile Mining Equipment inspections
  • Current AINDT or PCN Level 2 certification in UT and MT
  • Australian "C" Class manual drivers’ licence
  • A working knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems such as SAP
  • Sound knowledge of Australian, Safety and Statutory regulations and standards
  • A readiness for proactive and flexible approach to fluctuating workloads
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • An understanding of welding processes and defect identification
  • Working at heights certificate, Confined space certificate and Elevated work platform certificate

It will also be beneficial if you have training in any of the following areas:

  • Liquid Penetrant Testing AINDT or PCN L2
  • Eddy Current Testing AINDT or PCN L2
  • Machine Lubrication Analyst MLA I or LCAT I
  • Able to multi-task and process information simultaneously
