We are looking for a Technician Development to join our Mine Planning team at Robe Valley. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who can demonstrate proven capability across mine planning and experience in large-scale open pit surface mining operations.   Whether you’re new to your profession or experienced in your field and whatever industry you have exposure to, we have opportunities that will provide interesting work and growth opportunities for everyone.    You’ll be part of a high performing team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on an 8/6 Roster, with flexible working arrangements available, which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Planning, you will:   

• Ensure all Rio Tinto Health and Safety standards, policies and procedures are adhered to• Undertake blast vibration installation, monitoring and data capture and drill and blast data entry• Assist with blast filming and prism placement• Support radar deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, site liaison and logistics• Monitor crack meter, subsurface, and other monitoring installation, operation, and maintenance• Undertake pit hazard inspections, geotechnical data collection and processing• Inspect drone flights and panoramas (weekly)• Act as UAV spotter and survey assistant 

What you’ll bring   

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team • Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team• Minimum 2 years site-based experience within a large-scale open pit surface mining environment• An interest in career development within drill and blast• Knowledge of mining and business software such as MS Office• A current and valid manual C Class Driver’s Licence• Full unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia is essential

 Where you’ll be working   

Located in the scenic West Pilbara region, Mesa A and Mesa J are situated close to the picturesque town of Pannawonica, approximately 200km south of Karratha.

Mesa A and Mesa J accommodation camp is only a 15-20 minute drive from site and is complete with all the modern conveniences.
