About the role 

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the goal of this position is to safely operate and maintain diesel generating equipment as per work management processes, maintenance schedules and work instructions.

This role is a 7/7 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential on a full-time ongoing basis.  

Some of your main responsibilities will include: 

• Monitor generating capacity, load and spinning reserve and adjust generation as required
• Monitor auxiliary equipment associated with the operation of the power generation plant
• Perform inspections, report on defects and update maintenance and production logs
• Maintain plant safety and security and control safe work access
• Perform mechanical maintenance and servicing activities on the diesel generating sets and associated fuel and cooling infrastructure in line with maintenance plans
• Maintain plant availability through fault finding, diagnosis and remediation actions. Perform breakdown activities in a safe and proficient manner
• Assist the electrical maintenance team with activities associated with alternators, transformers and general infrastructure within the power generation plant as required
• Assist in the training and development of apprentices
• Contribute to business improvement initiatives
• Contribute to review and feedback processes

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

•  Possess Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent
• It would be advantageous if you have a background in heavy diesel maintenance and experience with power generation 
• A team player with good communication skills.
• Cummins and MTU (Penske) experience required.
• Minimum 2 Years’ experience working in a Power Station.
