About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity available for experienced Mechanical Technician to join our Track Machine Workshop Maintenance Execution Team in Port Hedland! This is a FIFO or Residential opportunity on 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off roster.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Track Machine Workshop your duties will include the following:
- Servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling Tampers, Ballast Regulators, Track Mobiles and Track Recording Vehicles.
- Demonstrating behaviours in line with BHP’s Charter Values.
- Safely performing mechanical maintenance.
- Following specific maintenance and compliance procedures.
- Undertaking training as required to gain new skills.
- Complying with all mine and rail safe working requirements.
- Take personal responsibility for helping the team to achieve expected results.
About You
- Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate – Essential
- Previous experience working on Track Maintenance Machines will be highly desirable
- Previous experience working on Truck or Earth moving equipment will be highly desirable
- Mandatory C class manual drivers licence & HR desirable
- 1SAP experience would be highly regarded
- A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
- A strong desire to learn and a high level of enthusiasm to develop a range of new skills
- Quality focused with a drive to achieve results for the team
- Comprehensive reading and writing skills
- A teamwork mentality to achieve result

Residential
In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. FIFO
You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 2:2 roster. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
