The Role:

Roster: FIFO 8/6 FIFO Roster

Site: Telfer Operations, Gold and Copper mine located in the Great Sandy Desert in WA.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Metallurgical Technician to join our Ore Treatment team at our Telfer site. Reporting to the Senior Plant Metallurgist, you will play a critical role in managing the Metallurgical Laboratory and supporting the optimisation of plant performance.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Perform diagnostic flotation, comminution, leach testing, stream sizing analysis, and sampling for COS and Scats.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, including Multi-stream Analyser (MSA), particle size analyser, TAC1000, and Metrohm Auto-titrator.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and proactively monitor behaviors to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Manage your tasks effectively to meet daily objectives and deliver on goals set by the Superintendent Metallurgy and Senior Metallurgist.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures and safety data sheets for the laboratory.
  • Supervise and train laboratory personnel, including vacation students and contractors.

 Assist in plant inspections during major shutdowns and participate in diagnostic testing and circuit surveys.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an individual with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including operations, maintenance, and environmental teams.

Other requirements include:

  • Minimum of five years of metallurgical and/or laboratory experience, preferably in a mining environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in conducting various metallurgical tests and sample preparations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities and adherence to deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, autonomous, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills with a strong safety record.
  • Experience with maintenance and calibration of Multi-stream Analysers (MSA).
  • Familiarity with database systems.
