About the Role

We are offering a unique opportunity to develop and grow your knowledge and skill within safe Rail Execution.

As an entry level role, you will hold approximately 6 months Track Maintenance Experience. Your primary responsibility will be to enable safe movements of Rail traffic between the mine and the port by performing track maintenance. Reporting to the Rail Execution Supervisor you will be supported, coached and mentored by a dynamic and experienced team.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Ensure performance with the BHP Charter values and Code of Conduct
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Rail Safety Act
  • Challenge team members to safely execute work by managing risk including changes
  • Ensure that work sites are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
  • Undertake training on regular basis and provide support and coaching to work mates within the area of competence.
  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable crews to work safely.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Mandatory)
  • HR Class drives licence (Mandatory)
  • Minimum 6 months Track Experience
  • Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Mandatory)
  • Excavator, Loader and 4wd ticket (desirable)
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong presentation, communication and coaching skills and the ability to work closely in a team environment
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way.
  • Be focused on working collaboratively within your team to achieve results.

Location

For this role we are offering either Residential 7:7 or FIFO 7:7 (Days Only) 

Port Hedland – Residential 

In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.   

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.  

Port Hedland – FIFO

You will be based at Port Hedland on a fly-in fly-out 7:7 roster.  Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
