About the Role

Reporting to the Product Manager -Operational Functions Technology (OFT) in the Enterprise & Global Technology Team, you will be the owner of the global & enterprise technology solutions (Commercial Off-the-Shelf and Custom Developed) that are used across our company for project and portfolio management.      Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Being a strategic partner to functions and our Assets to drive alignment of Functional and Technology strategies, ensuring it is aligned with business needs and opportunities. 
  • Being a recognized Functional Technology domain expert and acting as a change agent to assist in digital transformation at BHP by collaborating with the functions on a 5-year technology strategy and product roadmap, setting ambitious and clear product vision and communicating it effectively
  • Collaborating with the Project Center of Excellence (PCOE) Team to to develop and maintain BHP’s global standards and best practices to ensure Projects (PCOE) applications are configured/developed to meet the business requirements to maintain Projects (PCOE) information in the most effective and efficient manner
  • Accountability for the stability, sustainability, and lifecycle management of the solutions in the OFT portfolio (from inception through operation) including architecture and design governance, Capital/OPEX project delivery (through project delivery team), Technology application ownership (application lifecycle management), and service ownership (operations management), driving standardization and continuous improvement through DevSecOps.
  • Raising awareness of technology services and elevating the profile of Technology within functions and our Assets 
  • Identifying, evaluating, prioritizing, and delivering improvement initiatives that make a tangible difference in the felt experience of our internal and external customers and embedding a culture of continuous improvement in the team. 
  • Leading, motivating and mentoring a globally diverse team of in-house and outsourced professionals by establishing a strong team of teams and delivery culture rooted in BHP’s charter values. 
  • Support the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximize operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.  
  • Budgeting, Forecasting, Capital Management and Workforce planning for the product team

About You

  • Deep understanding and proven experience in a product DevSecOps environment for global applications and technology services delivery in a similar domain
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of complex technology projects delivered through multiple project management teams with waterfall and agile delivery methods
  • Proven skills for Product Management, Application Portfolio Management, Architecture, Software Lifecycle Management, Service Management, Cloud and Infrastructure, Application Integration, Data Governance, Cyber Security, Vendor Management
  • Highly effective relationship building skills and an ability to negotiate with and influence leaders and senior management 
  • Strong Business consulting and engagement, with an ability to drive difficult prioritization conversations.
  • Understanding of functional business processes and emerging technology trends   
  • Strong action orientation and problem solving, collaboration and decision-making skills. 
  • Well-developed issue management skills, with ability to analyze risks to the business and report on operational implications with recommendations for mitigation 
  • Strong people leadership experience in leading internal and external teams.
  • Experience in developing and leading budgets and schedules, and a sharp business acumen 
  • Able to operate within Agile and DevOps methodologies and practices  
  • Not afraid to “roll up the sleeves” and seeks to go outside comfort zone to learn – encourages teams to do the same
