Tenement Officer

Location: Fortescue Centre, East Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are now seeking a Tenement Officer – Warden’s Court to join our Tenements & Acquisitions team on a permanent basis, reporting to the Senior Tenement Specialist.

The role will assist with ensuring FMG’s land tenure and assets are protected. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and a background in tenements, compliance or law would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Primary responsibility in the management of the Mining Act objection process and provide advice to best protect FMG’s assets.
  • Processing of Mining Act objections and ensuring all compliance relating to Mining Act objections are undertaken in an accurate and timely manner, to ensure critical deadlines are met.
  • Engaging with internal key stakeholders, as well as internal and external legal resources in relation to Warden’s Court processes.
  • Ensuring all critical information is captured accurately and kept up-to-date in line with FMG’s procedures.
  • Assists in compiling and reporting of statistics to Senior Management.
  • Participate in third party negotiations with respect to Warden’s Court processes and third party land access issues.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High attention to detail with strong time management skills is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain flexibility and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to tailor correspondence to a variety of key stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications.
  • An eager, self-disciplined and positive approach, with the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Desirable - Knowledge of WA Mining Act, Mining Regulations and Land Act, as well as experience using Mineral Titles Online and TengraphWeb or similar mapping systems.
  • Desirable - Previous Tenement experience is preferred, however not essential.
