About the Role
BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is a world class business, built on the strengths of BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi. BMA is part of the world's largest diversified resources company managing various mines and a port in Central Queensland. Hay Point Coal Terminal is located 30mins south of Mackay. Coal is received from BMA coal mines in Central Queensland and then transferred to ships for transport to customers around the world. The throughput and productivity at Hay Point Coal Terminal make it one of the best in the world, as well as a great place to work.
An opportunity is currently available for a Terminal Operator to work on a Lifestyle Roster reporting to the Shift Supervisor, within the Port Production Department. This position mainly involves the safe and efficient operation of automated and semi-automated equipment from coal train unloading, coal stacking through to ship loading, at the Coal Terminal.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, the community and the environment
- Effective operation and monitoring of automated and semi-automated fixed plant
- Working cooperatively within a motivated team to achieve safe production targets
- Shift work and day work operations including housekeeping
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Exposure in a Port Operation environment would be desirable
- Experience with fixed plant equipment and a familiarity with automated equipment would be desirable
- Experience with bulk materials handling operations or similar
- Mobile equipment experience would be desirable
- Experience operating a Ship Loader is highly desirable
- Qualifications and/or experience with Control Room Operations, Electronics or automation is desirable
- Values driven, a positive attitude, energetic and well developed interpersonal skills are essential
- Computer savvy with SAP experience and other BMA/BHPB operational systems will be an advantage
- A requirement of this position is the ability to obtain and retain a Maritime Security Identification card (MSIC).
