Rio Tinto is systematically enhancing its third-party risk management (TPRM) practices on a company wide basis. To support our efforts, we are looking for a Third-Party Risk Management Manager, to support the Director of TPRM and the TPRM Lead.

This is a key role in the TPRM team where you will act as a SME to operationally support the implementation of the Group TPRM Framework in Australia.

This is a great opportunity to be recognized as an expert in your own area requiring specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. A significant part of your daily work activities will focus on the performing and supporting others in conducting supply chain risk analysis.

Reporting to the Director, Third Party Risk Management, you will be responsible for implementing the TPRM Framework in Australia and the immediate region by:

  • Conducting due diligence: You will work with the central TPRM Due Diligence Operations team, the Business, Community and Social Practice team, other specialist centers of excellence, as well with regional Ethics and Compliance teams to conduct due diligence on third parties and manage third party risks.
  • Monitoring key risk mitigations: You will monitor the implementation of risk mitigations of select third party engagements and advise management of identified concerns in a timely manner.
  • Providing risk opinions: You will advise management and the Director Third Party Risk Management on practical matters relating to risk appetite setting using your subject matter experience and knowledge of the local environment.
  • Engaging with selected third parties: You will engage with third parties to explain or train them on Rio Tinto policies and procedures, as well as assist select third parties in completing information that Rio Tinto may require during the course of conducting due diligence on them.
  • Reporting to designated governance structures: You will support the Director Third Party Risk Management by preparing governance papers, and in certain cases, presenting at governance committees tasked with overseeing the Third-Party Risk Management Framework.
  • Support the Group TPRM Committee: You will closely work with the Director TPRM to plan and prepare papers for the Group TPRM Committee and other related governance structures.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or at least 8 years’ experience in ethics and compliance/or risk management, business intelligence and risk consultancy.
  • Experience in supply chain risk analysis, and experience in ESG reporting will be highly beneficial.
  • Possess at least 5 years of risk management experience in multinational corporations
  • Be a clear communicator – in both verbal and written forms
  • Ideally have prior experience in third party risk management in global corporations
