About the Role
As Track Engineer, your dynamic role is accountable for providing technical solutions and guidance to Track Maintenance and Major Projects teams to ensure compliance with Standards and Specifications.
Reporting to the Lead Engineer Track & Civils, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance in best practice maintenance and design review activities for the rail execution and projects teams. You will be responsible for developing and reviewing project governance documentation.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical input and support with rail infrastructure failures and rectification requirements
- Ensure effective and sustainable engineering solutions are identified and actioned during design review, addressing reliability issues to improve asset health for our critical infrastructure
- Conduct audit and reporting functions aligned with Rail engineering principles
- Implement business capability improvements while ensuring associated risks are managed for Rail
- Identify and manage engineering and design optimisation opportunities, issues and non-compliances
- Develop and review project governance documentation
- Perform technical design reviews to ensure compliance with Standards and Specifications including track, earthworks, roadworks, drainage and other infrastructure
- Develop a deep understanding of the Track Maintenance Code of Practice and other relevant standards and procedures and apply these to successfully deliver a quality product
About You
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate technical and professional skills within a rail infrastructure maintenance environment.
Strong teamwork skills with an ability to communicate confidently at all levels and establish a good rapport with a diverse range of people and stakeholders from frontline to senior management; in addition you will possess the following:
- Proven years’ experience working in the Rail sector
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical) or Equivalent
- Knowledge of railroad track maintenance and track renewal practices
- Knowledge off civil and track design
- Strong experience in Engineering governance
- Ability to critically review research work, construction plans, specification, drawings and provide workable and reliable documentation
- Current full Western Australian "C" class motor vehicle license
Location
Residential: In this 5:2 residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in Northwest Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. As a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
FIFO: We also have FIFO positions available working a 5:2 4:3 roster with flexible work arrangements considered. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms in addition to aquatic and sporting facilities. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
