About the role
We are looking for Scoper’s to join our Rail Network Maintenance team based in either Tom Price or Karratha. The position will be responsible for scoping Track Resurfacing works. This is a FIFO role from Perth (or one of our regional centres) to Tom Price / Karratha on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster, or alternatively, a residential role based in Tom Price or Karratha on the same roster.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will:
- Conduct and complete work execution scopes of Track resurfacing works and associated enabling works, to be completed by the RNM execution teams
- Ensure all works are planned in accordance with relevant Engineering Standards, and liaise with relevant Engineering support teams and other stakeholders to drive efficiencies and quality best practice
- Provide safeworking support to the execution teams, in accordance with Rio Tinto Rail Safeworking Rules
- Champion the development and the delivery of safety and productivity improvement initiatives in works planning and execution
- Ensure thorough consideration and understanding of potential heritage and environmental impacts to be included within scopes
- Undertake professional development training
- Champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will preferably have:
- Experience in Track maintenance or construction, with scoping experience highly valued
- Relevant Rio Tinto Safeworking qualifications (M4, M5)
- Experience working with SAP work management and Microsoft Office Suite – a strong IS&T capability
- Experience and demonstrated aptitude in Rio Tinto’s business management systems and processes
- Exposure to contractor management systems

Where you will be working
This role will be offered on a 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off residential roster in Karratha. We operate 200 locomotives on more than 1,700 kilometres of track in the Pilbara, transporting ore from 16 mines to four port terminals. The average return distance of these trains is about 800 kilometres with the average journey cycle, including loading and dumping, taking approximately 40 hours. Our network is the largest privately owned and operated heavy haul rail system in Australia, and as we focus on the future, our vision is to become the greatest heavy haul railway in the world.
