About the role
We are looking for a Track Specialist / Project Manager to play a key role within the broader Rail Maintenance team at Rio Tinto.
Reporting to the Superintendent RNM Track Coastal, whilst having the support of a Project Coordinator and Track Scoper you will be responsible for:
- Running of Mini Renewals within the Track Coastal Team from start to finish
- Liaising between AA and Execution teams to rectify issues within the network
- Implementing and assuring compliance to engineering standards / performance standards
- Contributing to the development of asset management plans to meet the asset management strategy
- Monitoring and reviewing health and performance of track assets, including risk profiles
- Managing the Track Engineering portfolio to ensure sustainable asset performance and risk management
- Engineering standards relevant and current, with structured auditing conducted on track assets over the life cycles
- Application of a systems engineering approach for design/management of track assets over the track asset life cycle
- Track asset health/performance to optimise maintenance/renewal interventions
- Track asset management plans
- People and Project Management
- Review track designs
About you
To be successfully considered for this role you will have:

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Exposure to a similar role, within a large complex organization within the rail / or resources industry
- Track Knowledge desirable however not mandatory
- Comprehensive knowledge of asset management principles
- Detailed understanding of project management principles
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
- Ability to work in a team and safety conscious environment
Where you will be working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 16 mines across the Pilbara via 1,700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile), each train is operated by a single driver and comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
