Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities.
Who we are looking for
Seeking an enthusiastic and safety-focused Trade Assistant to join our busy Mobile Maintenance team at Telfer. Reporting to the Supervisor – Light Vehicle and Ancillary Equipment Maintenance, you will be required to assist the team with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of light vehicles and ancillary equipment fleet (Toyota and Isuzu trucks, bobcats, forklifts, cranes etc.) in accordance with company values, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
You must be ready to learn with a mechanical mindset. This is your opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills as you assist our technicians with the maintenance of equipment in a reliable and cost-effective manner. With safety driving everything you do, you will have the opportunity to learn on the job including tyre fitting and servicing.
Other key deliverables include:
- Carry out refuelling to site support equipment in line with environmental policies
- Support maintenance and management for the light vehicle fleet focusing on improving wastage and maximising longevity.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environment and mining statutory requirements
- Carry out Pre-start inspections of equipment and work areas
- Keep the Light Vehicle workshop to a high standard of housekeeping
As the ideal candidate, you will be energetic, hardworking and enjoy following procedures. While you will appreciate being part of a busy team, you will enjoy working autonomously when required and will add real value to the business through your ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently.
In addition, you will ideally also have:
- Manual Class C and HR Driver's Licence (Restricted HR Licence Acceptable).
- High Risk Forklift Ticket.
- Cert 11 in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology (desirable).
- Basic knowledge of Computing software (e.g. SAP or similar system)
Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster.
