Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a Trades Assistant to join the Zinc Lead Concentrator - Maintenance team.  This is an excellent opportunity to further your experience and develop your technical skills and industry knowledge.

The Role 

Reporting to the Supervisor- Mechanical Feed Prep & Grinding, your primary responsibility will be to assist the maintenance team to complete works on conveyors, feed systems, chutes, pumps and mills. The successful applicant will be someone that is hands on and keen to develop and learn some of the skills found in mechanical fitting and boilermaker trades. They will have a HRW licence and interest in gaining additional tickets as required. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa working a 5/2 48hr roster. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining equipment in the feed prep and grinding areas.
  • Working closely with tradespeople and the supervisor to ensure that set targets are met and that the operation runs efficiently.
  • Ensuring removed components are cleaned and returned for repairs.
  • Manage incoming goods to ensure they are stored and accounted for.
  • Drive crane and forklift as required for maintenance tasks 
  • Raise any safety concerns and lead by example.

The successful candidate will possess: 
  • Self-motivated and flexible with a high standard of work
  • A pro-active approach to safety and continuous improvement
  • Sound Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team
  • A current Australian manual driver’s license
  • Forklift, Doggers, Riggers, Overhead crane and C3 crane tickets – preferred
  • Conveyor, pump or chute Milling and Flotation experience is essential
