Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a Trades Assistant to join the High Voltage Distribution Maintenance team.  This is an excellent opportunity to further your experience and develop your technical skills and industry knowledge.

The Role 

Reporting to the High Voltage Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to assist the maintenance team to complete works on high voltage equipment and auxiliary gear. The successful applicant will be someone that is hands on and keen to develop and learn some of the skills found in the electrical trade. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa working a 5/2 48hr roster. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining Battery Chargers throughout the distribution system
• Maintenance of switchyards and substations
• Working closely with tradespeople and the supervisor to ensure that set targets are met
• Ensuring Transformer oil and crucial spares stores are well maintained
• Operate forklift as required for maintenance/stores tasks
• Raise any safety concerns and lead by example.

• Self-motivated and flexible with a high standard of work
• A pro-active approach to safety and continuous improvement
• Sound Communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a small team
• A current Australian manual driver’s license
• Forklift, EWP, Doggers, Riggers, Overhead crane and HR licenses – preferred
• Previous electrical experience highly regarded
