About the role:  We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Surveyor at our Coppabella and Moorvale Joint Venture Mine.  Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

Reporting to the Survey Superintendent, this position will be responsible for providing accurate open cut survey, technical and operational assistance to the Technical Services team. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team who will provide mentorship and development in all aspects of open cut mine surveying. 

The Role

  • Provide accurate survey support and data in accordance with statutory and company standards for the support of the mine’s operation.
  • Maintain survey standards in field and office environment.
  • Conduct surveys utilising the latest GNSS, terrestrial laser scanner and UAV technology.
  • Take an active role in the daily running of the Survey Office (e.g. Equipment maintenance, weekly reports etc.)
  • Support and assistance to multiple departments (e.g. Technical Services, Engineering and Operations)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety behaviours in the workplace.

About You

  • Currently studying a formal qualification in Surveying.
  • Willingness to learn how to use various technologies employed in the profession.
  • Desire to use surveying and engineering applications such as PointStudio, Vulcan and  ArcGIS.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and technological advancement in mining
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Dedicated to grow and develop skills and attributes required for a Mine Surveyor
