TRAINEE OPERATOR - 12 MONTH FIXED TERM

Yarrabee Coal Company a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, 2 hours drive west of the Capricorn Coast.

Yancoal Australia is Australia’s largest pure play coal producer. It boasts three tier one thermal coal mines in New South Wales together with interests in three other metallurgical and thermal coal mines located in New South Wales and Queensland. To generate a strong talent pipeline for 2023 we are seeking Expressions of Interest from those who are eager to complete a Truck Driving Traineeship and join the Yarrabee team.

Roster: 7:7 10.5 hour shifts, 4 Panel Roster, requiring shift and weekend work

About the Role

As part of our commitment to increasing skills and employment opportunities, we are seeking Expressions of Interest for Trainee Operators to join our team at Yarrabee Coal Company. This is a 1 year Traineeship (fixed term), where you will be trained to safely operate Yarrabee Coal’s Mobile equipment, while gaining first-hand experience working in the mining industry. We would like people who can demonstrate a mechanical aptitude, as well as the capability, to safely and effectively operate the relevant equipment.

About You

To be considered for this traineeship you will have the below attributes;

• Sound work history and attendance
• Demonstrable ability to learn and be trained
• Sound understanding of risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
• Sound verbal and written communication skills
• Able to model professional behaviour at all times with a positive attitude and willingness to assist
• Ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required
• Have a can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Be able to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends
• New to industry are encouraged to apply

Mandatory Requirements;

• Current QLD Drivers Licence
