Yarrabee Coal Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yancoal Australia, based in Blackwater Queensland, a 2 hour drive west of Rockhampton.  Yancoal Australia is Australia's largest pure play coal producer. To generate a strong talent pipeline for 2024 we are seeking Expressions of Interest from those who are eager to complete a Truck Driving Traineeship and join the Yarrabee Team. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of our commitment to increasing skills and employment opportunities, we are seeking Expressions of Interest for Trainee Operators to join our team at Yarrabee Coal Company. This is a 12 month traineeship (fixed term), where you will be trained to safely operate Yarrabee Coal's Mobile equipment, while gaining first-hand experience working in the mining industry. We would like people who can demonstrate and mechanical aptitude, as well as the capability to safety and effectively operate the relevant equipment.  ROSTER: Starting on a Mon-Thurs 12.5hr dayshift only roster for approx 3 months before moving to a 7on/7off 12.5hr shifts, 4 panel roster, requiring shift and weekend work for the remaining 9 months. 

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this traineeship you will have the below attributes:

• Sound work history and attendance
• Demonstrate ability to learn and be trained
• Sound understanding of risk awareness, hazard identification and a strong commitment to safety performance
• Sound verbal and written communication skills
• Able to model professional behaviour at all times with a positive attitude and willingness to assist
• Have a can-do attitude with the ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required within a team environment. 
• Be able to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends
• New to industry are encouraged to apply

Mandatory Requirements

• Current QLD Drivers Licence
