About the Role

BHP Technology is seeking a motivated and hands-on individual to join our Operational Technology team at Mt Arthur Coal Mine in the Hunter Valley. This full-time role, working a 7/7 roster (10.5-hour days), is ideal for someone with a strong technical or mechanical mindset who’s ready to learn and grow into a specialist position. You’ll be part of a team that supports and maintains critical mining technology systems — and we’ll provide the training you need to succeed.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Support the day-to-day availability and maintenance of mining technology systems, including Fleet Management, Driver Safety Systems, and Digital Radio.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and respond to field support requests across a range of Operational Technology systems.
  • Learn to diagnose and resolve issues affecting equipment reliability, with support from experienced team members.
  • Execute work orders and follow relevant instructions to ensure safe and effective task completion.
  • Validate the quality of work and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with other teams and provide input into root cause analysis when issues arise.
  • Help maintain accurate data in work management systems such as SAP.

About You

We’re looking for someone with strong technical or mechanical aptitude and a passion for learning. You don’t need to have worked in mining or Operational Technology before — if you’re curious, hands-on, and enjoy solving problems, we’ll teach you the rest.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • A background in a technical trade, mechanical maintenance, IT, telecommunications, electronics, or similar field — formal qualifications are valued but not essential.
  • Experience or interest in working with technology systems, communications networks, mechanical systems, or industrial equipment.
  • A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across site teams.
  • A current Australian C class driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into a specialist role supporting mining technology systems.

Bonus skills (not required):

  • Experience in mining or heavy industry environments.
  • Exposure to systems like Fleet Management, Digital Radio, CCTV, or access control.
  • Cabling licence or willingness to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other work management systems.
