Trainees - Blasting Support Shot firers

About the role:  We are currently seeking New to Industry Trainees for the Blasting / Support Shot Firer process at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture mine.  Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of three open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, the scope of your role will be to learn the processes and tasks of a Support Shot Firer to assist the shotfirer in daily loading activities including assisting with measuring and setting out of blast positions. 

Duties will include:

• Maintain and follow safe loading practices
• Ensure correct signage and communication is carried out
• Active involvement in blasting improvement techniques
• Comply with all safety requirements

The lifestyle: This position is offered on a 7/7 lifestyle roster and can allow for a residential, DIDO or FIFO lifestyle. All PPE is supplied, and camp accommodation is provided for those who choose to be DIDO or FIFO employees.

About you:

The successful candidate will need to achieve:

• a current SSAN Police Clearance
• an explosives security check

• Obtain an RII in blasting practices.
• Strong safety values
• An ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills
• The ability to work well in a team
• Have a current Open Driver’s license (HV License will be advantageous)
