We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainer to join our Learning and Development (L&D) team. L&D are accountable for the complete learning cycle including identifying learning needs, designing learning content, scheduling for learning completion, delivery of learning, recording of learning completion and measurement of learning effectiveness against defined criteria.
The primary objective of this role is to work with Area Leaders and training personnel across the business, driving a high safety culture, to ensure competency-based training and assessments are delivered to the highest standard.
This full-time position, reporting to the Learning and Development Superintendent, operates on a 9 day fortnight.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of training and assessment materials.
- Schedules the delivery and coordination of training.
- Delivers training as appropriate.
- Maintains audit and review schedules to ensure compliance with standards and prepare compliance reports for the business as required.
- Identifies, schedules and following-up on outstanding training requirements.
- Provides training reports to key stakeholders highlighting training needs, requirements and compliance.
- Provides advice on the daily use of the Learning Solution / Training programs.
- Maintains employee training records.
- Liaises with internal and external parties to identify needs and services.
- Coordinates programs from approved vendor engagement to vendor payment.
About You
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and willing to drive continuous improvement
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office suite applications
- Highly organised individual with strong attention to detail
- A strong commitment to safety for yourself and your team
- TAE40122 Certificate IV Training and Assessment or Assessor skills set (Willing to obtain TAE40122)
- 3 years minimum experience in similar role
- Trade Qualified (desirable)

Where you’ll be workingLocated in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
