About the role

We are looking for an amazing workplace Trainer to join the team at our Andoom Mine site in Weipa Qld. This is a great opportunity to be a frontline representative of the Learning and Development team within Pacific Operations. You will be an enthusiastic team member with the role of interacting with our teams of employees, contractors and In Field Assessors, and demonstrate strong collaboration with our operational leaders for the purpose of building capability.

Reporting to the Superintendent Learning & Development, and supporting the Operational Superintendents within the Andoom site Mining Operations, you will be the front line presence of the Learning and Development team. You will thrive working in a challenging and exciting environment. You will be responsible for:

  • Delivery of formal and ad hoc training and learning material to teams and individuals
  • Delivery of some specialised learning content as required
  • All local administration associated with learning documentation and record keeping
  • Assessment marking/issuing of permits as may be required
  • Co-ordination, development & support of the In Field Assessor group including maintenance of their standards and protocols
  • The correction and address of poor performance or behaviours in the learning environment
  • Increasing and maintaining site training compliance targets
  • Partnering with the Instructional Designer as required to create and initiate new material
  • Conducting formal planned coaching and appraisal of IFA’S
  • Giving and receiving live feedback to and from all teams
  • Accountable for quality assurance assessment of competency evidence
  • Response to customer queries including system access assistance
  • Partnering with Learning Support team to development and review learning content as may be required
  • Periodic conduct and coordination of Mine Operator induction Training Courses
  • Learning delivery and attendance at the OTC as required and as part of the broader L&D Team

What you will bring

  • Essential – latest version of Certificate IV Training and Assessment or the ability to upskill within 3 months
  • Mine Drive permit or the capacity to obtain one
  • Capacity to confidently deliver material to broad audiences and learning groups, great story telling, real life experiences, examples & enthusiasm
  • Experience working in a large integrated organisation
  • Experience working in heavy industrial settings preferred
  • Proficient across basic IS equipment with the capacity to upskill
  • Personable communication skills and the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with all audience mediums
  • High level of attention to detail to confirm transfer of knowledge
  • Professional management of stakeholders
  • High awareness and adaptability across LLN
