Our Opportunity

 

Work location: Port Hedland


Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off — FIFO from Perth or residential in Port Hedland

 

We are seeking a Trainer & Assessor – Rail Operations to coordinate and deliver rail training across our operations. You will support a strong safety and competency culture by delivering training, conducting assessments and improving our learning and assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive rail training programs across rail operations
  • Deliver enterprise and nationally recognised training in an onsite operational environment
  • Facilitate engaging face-to-face training and conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
  • Review and update training processes, procedures, learning resources and assessment materials
  • Develop, validate and moderate Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS) and associated assessment tools
  • Support the continuous improvement of training programs and competency assurance processes
  • Conduct audits, safety inspections and other quality assurance activities as require.
  • Maintain training and assessment practices that align with operational requirements, regulatory obligations and RTO standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Train Driving or equivalent rail qualification (highly desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAE40116, TAE40122 or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in rail operations, with a strong understanding of rail industry competencies and operational requirements
  • Experience developing and delivering accredited and enterprise training programs
  • Experience conducting assessments and VOCs in an operational rail environment
  • Knowledge and practical experience working within ASQA, Training Accreditation Council (TAC) and RTO frameworks
  • Experience working for, or in partnership with, a registered training organisation is highly desirable
  • Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to safety, compliance, quality and continuous improvement.
