We are seeking an experienced Learning & Development (L&D) professional to join our L&D team at Boyne Smelters Limited. Our team are delivering a site-wide training needs analysis (TNA) and suite of learning and assessment materials to meet the needs identified in the TNA. This is a great opportunity to use your analytical, design and people skills in a role that will help shape the future of the L&D service on site. The successful candidate will have a positive and collaborative approach to finding solutions and providing support to our customers.

The role will transition to that of an L&D Officer (Trainer – Project Team) following the completion of the TNA. 

Our team of trainers deliver Site and Area induction and basic skills training across all operational teams, and work collaboratively with our Area Managers and Superintendents to identify training needs and support compliance in all work groups.

Reporting to the Superintendent L&D, you will be accountable to:

  • Work closely with the project lead and a small team to deliver a site-wide training needs analysis and develop learning packages across site, in collaboration with our Pacific Operations design team.
  • Assess the quality of learning and development programs and participate in continual improvement of learning materials.
  • Maintain & update the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for respective operational areas inclusive of legislative policy and safety procedure.
  • Deliver induction, onboarding, and skills based training for multiple areas across site.
  • Work closely with our Leaders to provide training solutions to meet specific needs such as trade-specific and HRWL.
  • Contribute to monthly project reporting.
  • This is a site-based, customer facing role.

About you

To succeed in this role, it is preferred that you will have;

  • Demonstrated creation of successful partnerships and an engagement style that embodies our values of both care, courage, and curiosity.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment – TAE40116
  • Experience in learning design, delivery and management of learning pathways and curriculum
  • Willingness to work as part of a close-knit team, and demonstrate leadership behaviours
  • Enthusiastic and positive approach to personal, professional and team development and be willing to take the lead on new learning projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite
  • Strong facilitation skills including how to engage, story tell, bring people on the learning journey and confirm transfer of knowledge.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate efficiently and effectively with learner.

Desirable

  • Experience with design of learning materials and programs
  • Experience in conducting and maintaining a training needs analysis
  • Experience working in heavy industry, mining, refining, smelting, or similar
  • Ability to train or willingness to develop the ability to train in high risk training such as: Confined Space, Working at Heights, EWP.
  • Other tickets such as forklift are also advantageous.
