Trainer Site Operations
Barminco is seeking an experienced and motivated Trainer Site Operations to join our team at Sunrise Dam (Sunrise) on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Reporting to the HSE&T Superintendent, this role plays a critical part in supporting site leadership teams with the successful delivery of training and workforce development initiatives. You will work closely with operational personnel to assess competency, facilitate training programs, mentor employees, and ensure compliance with Barminco's training systems and development pathways. This position is ideal for an experienced underground mining professional who is passionate about developing people and fostering a safe, skilled, and capable workforce.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Support site leadership teams in the effective implementation of Barminco's Safety and Training Management Systems.
- Conduct and facilitate training for operational personnel through practical coaching, mentoring, and workplace guidance.
- Assist operational teams in coordinating employee upskilling and development in line with individual progression plans.
- Complete practical on-the-job assessments across all operational departments and competency areas.
- Support HSET Systems Coordinators with new starter arrivals, site inductions, and underground familiarisation tours.
- Assist with the delivery and administration of Barminco's entry-level new starter programs, ensuring all documentation is completed, communicated, and maintained accurately.
- Proactively identify hazards and risks in the workplace and recommend appropriate mitigation controls.
- Conduct scheduled workplace inspections, task observations, and field interactions across site departments.
- Maintain accurate training records, competency matrices, reports, and documentation to meet site, corporate, and legislative requirements.
- Manage and update learning management systems and training databases.
- Facilitate and coordinate hydration testing programs and associated record keeping as required by site management.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to employees to support competency development and operational excellence.
- Promote Barminco's safety culture and operational standards through positive leadership and engagement.
- Build strong working relationships with supervisors, trainers, and operational personnel.
- Other duties as directed by the HSE&T Superintendent.
Our Ideal Candidate Background Includes:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Underground Mining.
- Strong underground operational knowledge and practical mining experience.
- Demonstrated capability in workplace training, coaching, mentoring, and competency assessment.
- Sound understanding of training compliance requirements within a mining environment.
- Strong commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining training records, competency systems, and reporting tools.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying training needs and supporting workforce development.
Qualifications & Requirements
- TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set (Essential).
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Understanding of underground mining training and competency frameworks.
