Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell.  The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health, Safety & Training Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing & overseeing safety and operational training for the Underground, Coal Handling Preparation Plant and Surface Operations.

  • Maintain and manage the Learning Management System (Pegasus) and training requirements of all employees
  • Maintain the Maintenance of Competency for all statutory roles on site
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure that training systems reflect current work practices, procedures, and processes
  • Complete training needs analysis for all job roles and maintain operations training matrix to ensure employees receive appropriate training in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain the annual training day plans for site
  • Coordinate & deliver training in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Develop onboarding plan and packages for new starters 
  • Partner with key stakeholders to design and deliver tailored training programs
  • Conduct safety & operational training assessments and provide feedback to operators on competency performance
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, completion, and certification to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust as required

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience operating underground equipment (essential)
  • Sound knowledge of Pegasus portal and understanding of Contractor Management principles
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • High level attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with ability to influence stakeholders
