About the Role

BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) has a well-established remote operations facility in the heart of Brisbane - Integrated Operations Centre (IOC).  This world-class control centre coordinates the near-term scheduling, planning and controlling of our coal operations from a central location and delivers performance improvements across the coal operations in a sustainable way. We are seeking a highly motivated training SME as the Controller Training Coordinator position within the IOC. Reporting to the Control Enablement Superintendent -IOC, this role is responsible for the development and coordination of training activities for our fixed plant and load & haul controllers.  The position ensures that learning and development needs of our controllers are addressed with current and highly effective training platforms to accelerate the provision of industry leading service to our site partners. The role is based in Brisbane on a Monday to Friday roster, with flexible work arrangements on offer. Key Accountabilities:  

  • Leader in the IOC Learning and Development Strategy, IOC Training Framework, IOC Training Needs Analysis and IOC Training Scheme Standard.
  • Supports IOC Supervisors and Superintendents to develop Training Plans for Controllers.
  • Ensures Quarterly Training Calendar is in place and maintained by the IOC control teams.
  • Liaise with Specialist Line Trainers in the delivery of training content across the IOC operations.
  • Ensure the line trainers are distilling best practice in the Minestar fleet management system and/or fixed plant operation practices across the control floor.
  • Ensure that training is audited in relation to content relevance, the audience and remains current.

About You

Skills Required:    

  • Trainer and Assessor qualifications is highly regarded.

  • Previous experience in Coal Handling Plants (CHPP), Port Facilities and/or Mining Load and Haul control operations.

  • Create a culture of care to support an uplift in standards across the control floor.

  • Proven ability to lead and drive productivity, distilling best practice control operations.

  • Demonstrated experience within the mining industry with a strong understanding of training systems and processes, Safety & Health Management Systems (SHMS) and WHS / Coal Mining legislative requirements.
