Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset. 

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking a passionate Training Officer to join the team at Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW). This role reports to the site Training Supervisor. As part of the broader Health, Safety and Training team, the Training Officer will ensure all training developed or conducted on site is in alignment with the site Training and Competency Management Scheme, Yancoal values, and relevant site department’s goals & objectives.

In particular, you will be required to:

  • Develop, review and deliver internal training across site;
  • Deliver training and assessment in isolation, site induction, contractor supervision & light vehicle operations;
  • Maintain legislative and regulatory standards for training documents and procedures;
  • Source, arrange and coordinate external training as well as involvement with training audits; and
  • Coach and provide feedback to stakeholders and training participants.

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Training role
  • Must have excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Well-developed range of enterprise skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous Surface coal operational experience in a training role
  • Knowledge of CS Order 34 guidelines
