About the role: 

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Training Officer join our North Goonyella Mine.  Our North Goonyella mine is an underground longwall mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay producing a premium quality, high strength coking coal for export markets.

Reporting to the Training Specialist, your role will be responsible for providing Training Support to the North Goonyella team, ensuring that accurate training records are maintained, training activities are coordinated, and all systems are updated with accurate and live data. 

Duties will include:

  • Ensure North Goonyella is compliant with training scheme requirements
  • Ensure the onsite training systems are maintained to a high level of accuracy
  • Oversee the site induction process, site training calendar and designated training days
  • Ensure available training courses align with the training needs analysis
  • Provide monthly reporting requirements associated with the training function
  • Manage the service, cost and flexibility of RTOs
  • Provide training information to site personnel and direction to the site Trainer and Assessors
  • Participate and lead internal auditing activities associated with the Safety, Health and Training function
  • Provide support across the wider HST Team as required

The lifestyle: This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo) or DIDO lifestyle.

About you:

  • Experience in training, including training schemes, systems and processes
  • A thorough understanding of mining operations and surface mining equipment
  • Ability to follow industry and company policies and procedures
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office and Kronos (or similar computer packages)
  • Excellent leadership, customer service and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety as a way of life
  • A Certificate in Business Administration and / or Certificate IV TAE and /or related discipline would be advantageous but not essential
