On 29th August 2024, Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) ownership changed from South32 to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd trading as GM3. For an interim period between September 2024 to February 2025, South32 will continue to provide recruitment services on behalf of GM³. GM3 is an emerging Australian metallurgical coal mining entity owned by global investment entity Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, a market leader in metallurgical coal industry services.

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a full-time fixed-term contract position based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney. 

As the Training Officer, you will coordinate course scheduling, administer the end to end training and assessment process and distribute training compliance reporting.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Plan and schedule training for all employees.
  • Work with external training providers and stakeholders to coordinate courses and people allocation.
  • Effectively coordinate course bookings and manage a 90-day planning schedule.
  • Integrate the training function with the site planning processes to ensure transparency and visibility.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • Experience working in an administration role and some scheduling experience (highly desirable)
  • High attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Learning Management System (Pegasus or other)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to change

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Certificate of Business Administration (desired)
