About the Role

This position will provide leadership and support to their assigned team of trainers and assessors delivering BHP CERT 4 Rail Operations Driver Training. The Training Supervisor will be site-based on a 5/2, 4/3 basis or 5/2 dependent on whether the individual is Residential or FIFO.

The following duties will be part of this position:   

  • Monitor the performance of trainers and assessors in relation to role expectations and KPIs
  • Monitor the day to day execution and compliance of training plans
  • Monitor the learning progress of students and support trainers and assessors to develop remedial training plans
  • Develop a program to grow and enhance the capability of BHP classroom facilitators.
  • Conduct quality in-field safety leadership activities to verify safe working and training conditions for trainers and assessors and students
  • Work with the training team to support the execution of training projects

About You

The following attributes are essential: 

  • Hold a current Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment - preferably the TAE40116 or be working towards achieving this.
  • Experience working in a Rail environment
  • Competent and confident communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Conflict and performance resolution skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in working with BHP or similar systems
  • Understanding of OHS, Mining Acts/Regs and Rail Safety National Law and how these apply to training and site contexts
  • Proficiency in utilising learning technology
  • Understanding of and alignment on Code/Spectrum of Conduct, Diversity Objectives, Respectful Behaviours and BHP Values (Cultural Fit)
  • VET training understanding and quality controls associated with training and assessment under Australian Quality Training Framework
  • Student focused approach to solving logistics planning and contingencies
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation of training programs is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in developing facilitator programs to grow the capability of classroom facilitators is preferred.
